Sacred Discussion Group 7th May 2016

Five of us met for a breakfast of toast, croissants, with homemade jam, tea and coffee at 8.30 on a bright invigorating morning. The attendance figures rose to 12 for the discussion at 9.00.

This month under the direction of the author of the Sacred Bible Reading course, Rev. Dr. Phil Moon, we had been reading the books of Paul’s letter to the Romans and Ruth interspersed with some Psalms.

Everyone agreed that this is a very comfortable way to read a chapter of the Bible each day. This is the fourth time we have met a few are behind in their reading, for various reasons, whilst a few are galloping ahead because they are so engrossed in the stories being told.

The notes that accompany the daily readings are encouraging, enlightening and informative with some anecdotes used for illustration.

Our discussions ranged from how we are justified by faith and what this really means (completely accepted and restored by God), to how the Holy Spirit can show himself and guide our paths, on to how the Psalms can lead us into prayers for ourselves, friends and family and can comfort us in times of trouble and then lead us into peace as we come to realize how God is never changing.

All are welcome to join us when we next meet, Saturday 4th June, to learn more.
